Q. What is the secret of happiness? Can happiness be attained by seeking it?
A. No, happiness is found by delighting in 'the law of the LORD' - he is described as a plant 'drinking in' life (v2-3) unlike the wicked who are withered (presumably due to not drinking in life) and finally blown away.
Notes: Prefactory psalm. The difference between the one who delights in the law of the LORD and he who doesn't. The negative is three fold in terms of hardening: The ungodly walks, The sinner stands, The mocker sits.
